I am reading the book "Captivating" and this is all found in chapter 2. As I was reading it was striking such interest to me that I wanted to "blog" and share with others what I am learning. As a woman, it is so important and interesting to know my roots. Hope you enjoy.
A woman's struggle with her sense of worth points to something glorious she was designed to be. The great emptiness we feel points to the great place we were created for. All those legends and fairy tales of the undiscovered Princess and the Beauty hidden as a maid are more accurate than we thought. There's a reason little girls resonate with them so. SO... we must go back to woman's beginnings, the story of Eve. I know we have all heard the story many, many times, but we clearly haven't learned its lessons! If we had, men would treat women much, much differently, and women would view themselves in a far better light. So, that is where we will start-- with the light; the dawn of the world-- the verrrrrryyy beginning.
The story takes place in Genesis 2. Adam, created in the image of God, is a triumph of God's work. Nothing in creation comes close-- he is made different from every other creature. He is magnificent. Yet, the Master says that something is not good... not right... something is missing. And that something is Eve. She is the grand finale. The Master's finishing touch. Given the way creation unfolds, how it builds ever higher and higher works of art, can there be any doubt that Eve is the "Crown" of creation? She fills a place in the world that nothing or no one else can fill. Ladies, take yourself to a place where the view is incredible. Look out across the earth and say to yourself, "The whole, entire world is INCOMPLETE without me!"
Eve, the first Woman in the world, the Mother to us all, the final piece to the intricate puzzle of God's creation. She is typical of us all and we consistently show we are her descendants by repeating her mistakes; the "I've got to have it" feeling. Maybe besides Mary, she is the most misunderstood woman of the Bible. Her story is proof of women's inferior reason and their natural feminine characteristics. So... What does Eve speak to us? The purpose of a woman is unveiled here in her story. She too, bears the image of God. What can we learn from her? God wanted to reveal something about himself, so he gave us Eve, Woman. First, you'll discover that God is relational to his core, that he has a heart for romance. Second, that he longs to share adventures with us- adventures you cannot accomplish without him. And finally, that God has a beauty to unveil. A beauty that is captivating and powerfully redemptive. A beauty found in EVERY woman... because she bears the image of God.
To be continued.....
PS: I added a few points of my own, too :)
